Lesson 4: Verbs

 

Verbs are Action Words. These words tell what action is being done.

 

Verbs with one subject have an s at the end.

Lisa walks.

Tim jumps.

The fish swims.

 

Verbs with more than one as subject do not end in an s.

Lisa and Mark walk.

Tim, Suzy and John jump.

The fishes swim.

 

Is and Are are a pair of verbs that do not follow the add s rule.

One book is there.

Three books are here.

 

Was and Were are another pair of verbs that do not follow the add s rule.

Sue was home.

Jane, Sue and Peter were home.
